Slovak opposition MP and presidential candidate Iveta Radičová met Hungarian Foreign Minister Kinga Göncz in Budapest on February 25.
The two discussed possible procedures to handle the financial crisis, potential joint steps by European Union member states and regional issues, the SITA newswire reported.
“Good relations between Slovakia and its neighbours have been and always will be one of my top priorities,” said Radičová. The two agreed that Slovakia and Hungary face a similar situation at this time of financial crisis as both countries’ economies are export-oriented. Radičová stressed that solutions to alleviate the crisis adopted by the strongest economic powers would also influence the situation in other EU countries. Göncz and her Slovak guest remarked that this was why the conclusions of an extraordinary EU summit in Brussels on Sunday will be of great importance. SITA
