The murder of a Slovak soldier, deployed in Afghanistan as part of the ISAF mission, has been hailed in a video placed on the internet by local Taliban Islamic extremists. The Nový Čas daily reported that the video shows Lambar Khan, who shot dead Daniel Kavuliak, a 35-year-old sergeant-major, and injured six other Slovak service personnel, two of them seriously, on July 9 at a military base in Kandahar. Khan was a regular soldier in the Afghan National Army (ANA). Several days after the attack he escaped detention and is now hiding in territory controlled by the Taliban.
The video shows Taliban fighters awarding him with a big heart, and Khan himself shows the V for victory sign. Speaking in Pashto, he describes, together with a masked man, how the shooting was carried out. Khan had served in the ANA for several years, attracting no attention.
