Slovak stretch of Danube now fully navigable
No restrictions apply to navigation on the Danube River in Slovakia as of 10:00 on Monday, June 17 following the ban that was put in place on June 3 and was partially lifted on Friday.
The TASR newswire learned from Jana Vadkertyová of the Slovak Shipping Directorate (SPS) that traffic on Slovakia's stretch of the Danube was halted on June 3 following a surge in the water level, and after receiving a recommendation from the Slovak Water Management Company (SVP), SPS on Friday deemed the river passable between the Čunovo waterworks some 20 kilometres from the centre of Bratislava and the Austrian border, when navigation was permitted all the way to Vienna.
The ban on navigation on the section between Čunovo and Štúrovo was lifted only early on Monday.
