The doors are forever closed to Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš from the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) and his auditors, Slovakia’s Supreme Court wrote in a statement in reaction to the announcement of Mikloš about the fines he levied against the court and its president and the Finance Ministry’s preparation to lodge criminal motions against Chief Justice Štefan Harabin, the SITA newswire wrote.
The Supreme Court repeated in its statement that it would allow an audit to be performed only by Slovakia’s Supreme Audit Office.
The Finance Ministry announced on Thursday, August 12, that it is preparing to file a legal motion against Harabin and will lodge a complaint with the General Prosecutor's Office and the Police Presidium, Mikloš informed media.
He has previously stated that Harabin might have committed the crime of abuse of a public official’s power by repeatedly refusing to allow the Finance Ministry to audit the Supreme Court.
