THE PUBLIC broadcaster Slovak Television (STV) reported a Sk399.4 million (€10 million) profit in 2004.

Branislav Záhradník, a member of the STV management, said that the result was largely due to a special subsidy received from the state, totalling Sk399.5 million to pay its debts, the SITA news agency wrote.

Advertising sales time grew 89 percent year-on-year to Sk446.4 million (€11.45 million), exceeding STV's estimations by 11.6 percent.
