The Hospodárske Noviny economic daily reported that uranium exploration in Slovakia has attracted Russian foreign investors.
"We have met with the representatives of Tvel and submitted our project," said Boris Bartalský of the Tournigan Gold Corporation, which is exploring in Jahodná near Košice, the Spiš region, Rudohorie and Považie. Of these, Jahodná is the most promising, he said.
The expected reserves exceeded 3.5 million tonnes, with 0.5 percent concentration.
Russia used the recent visit by its prime minister, Viktor Zubkov, to suggest that a new uranium enrichment centre be built in Slovakia, with the help of two Russian companies, Tvel and Atomstrojexport. SITA
