Slovak wins country's first Grand Slam event

Nineteen year old Daniela Hantuchová became the first Slovak ever to win a major tennis title on July 9 when she and Czech teammate Leoš Friedl won the mixed doubles championship at Wimbledon.

The unseeded duo defeated American Mike Bryan and Australian Liezel Huber in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

For the victory, Hantuchová received a winner's purse of three million Slovak crowns ($60,000).
