AS A country with five million inhabitants that neighbours five countries with more than 113 million consumers, Slovakia can become a logistical centre of the region.

This may lead to a doubling of the number and size of logistics parks in the country by 2010, the Hospodárske noviny business daily wrote, quoting a market research study by the Terno agency.

The largest boom in logistics centres took place in 2004 and 2005. The automotive industry and their suppliers will help further development. Acording to Ľubomír Drahovský, an analyst from Terno, there were 16 logistic centres
with storage area surpassing 3,000 square metres in 2005, most of which are located in western Slovakia - near Senec, Záhorie, around Nitra and middle Považie. Some also lie between Prešov and Košice, in the direction of the Slovakia-Hungarian
border.

The largest logistics park is an areal near highway D1, next to PSA Peugeot Citroen plant in Trnava, with an area of 180,000 square metres. J&T Global is its developer.
