A presentation by Slovak companies at a ‘Taste of Slovakia’ conference in Brussels on Tuesday, May 12, marked the beginning of celebrations of the fifth anniversary of Slovakia’s entry into the European Union (EU). The event took place at the Royal Museum of Art and History in the Belgian capital.
Held under the auspices of Prime Minister Robert Fico, the event was organised by the Slovak Agriculture Ministry, and Slovakia’s Permanent Representation to the EU. Apart from the companies and Slovak regions, the National Stud Farm in Topoľčianky will be presented in Brussels as well. The programme also includes a performance by falconers.
Visitors will be able to taste traditional Slovak delicacies, and to view an exhibition of Slovak forestry, shepherding, and the Tokaj wine region in eastern Slovakia, the TASR wrote. The celebrations will culminate with a concert by a violin orchestra from Bratislava, with the Slovak premier in attendance. Slovakia became a full member of the EU on May 1, 2004. TASR
