Slovakia and the Netherlands co-chaired the first EU-Tunisia task force meeting in Tunis, where Arab Spring protests started last year, the SITA newswire reported.
Representatives of Tunisian ministries presented several projects aimed at supporting the democratisation process in their country as well as the priorities of Tunisian government. The meeting showed there is a need to coordinate the EU countries' support with Tunisian partners, SITA wrote.
Projects focusing on building democratic institutions, the security sector, strengthening civil society and regional development were presented. In addition to the two co-chairing countries, representatives of 17 other EU states, officials of the EU and other international organisations such as the United Nations Development Programme participated.
