SLOVAKS are more eager to travel abroad for work than other EU members, the business daily Hospodárske noviny wrote.

The most popular work destination for Slovaks is the Czech Republic, where as many as 70,000 Slovaks are employed. The second most popular place is Hungary, where Hungarian nationals from Southern Slovakia commute to work. According to EURES, an organized network of services for the support of work mobility, some 20,000 Slovak citizens work in Hungary.

Great Britain is also a popular work destination for Slovaks; some 18,500 Slovak citizens work there.

Alternately, foreigners are not as eager to work in Slovakia. Only 3,000 foreign nationals work in the country. According to Boris Katuščák from EURES, high unemployment and low wages in Slovakia make its labour market particularly unattractive to foreigners.
