Slovakia in Lonely Planet's top ten for 2013

Travel-guide publishing firm Lonely Planet has included Slovakia among its top-ten list of countries worth visiting in 2013, according to an announcement on the company's website on Tuesday, October 23.

Travel-guide publishing firm Lonely Planet has included Slovakia among its top-ten list of countries worth visiting in 2013, according to an announcement on the company's website on Tuesday, October 23.

Slovakia was praised for its rich cultural heritage and for numerous adventure opportunities for tourists. According to the firm, Slovakia offers cheap opportunities for skiing and stag/hen parties, but is trying to overhaul its image. In addition, it emphasised the significant changes that the country has experienced since the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Slovakia made the list along with Sri Lanka, Montenegro, South Korea, Ecuador, the Solomon Islands, Iceland, Turkey, the Dominican Republic and Madagascar.

Lonely Planet does not publish a travel guide devoted to Slovakia.
