Slovakia is first to ratify Croatia's accession to the EU

The Slovak Republic is the first member of the European Union that has approved ratification of Croatia's accession to the EU, the SITA newswire wrote.

The Slovak Republic is the first member of the European Union that has approved ratification of Croatia's accession to the EU, the SITA newswire wrote.

Slovakia’s ambassador in Rome, Mária Krásnohorská, deposited the treaty ratification documents on March 19 with the government of Italy, which is the depository for this treaty ratification process.

The Slovak Parliament approved the admission treaty for Croatia on February 1. After ratification by all other EU member countries, Croatia will become the 28th member of the EU. The anticipated date is July 1, 2013.
