Slovakia risks losing the right to draw almost Sk1 billion (about €33 million) of EU funds earmarked for education projects.

Education Ministry State Secretary Jozef Habánik informed the Parliamentary Committee for Education that they expect the drawing of Sk875 million (€29 million) will not be completed, the SITA wrote.

The money that Slovakia could draw from EU funds relates to the Human Resources operational programme for the 2004-2008 period. Habánik explained that the most frequently cited reasons for not drawing from available funds were ineligible spending and failure to submit satisfactory documentation. SITA
