INDIA, as the host country of the United Nations conference on biodiversity known as the 11th Meeting of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), built the Bio Diversity Park in Hyderabad. Representatives of individual countries planted trees in the park bearing the label of each participating country, the TASR newswire wrote in October, 2012.
Delegates from over 170 countries attended the conference and planted rare and endangered plant species in the park. Slovakia was represented by a delegation led by Ján Ilavský, the State Secretary of the Environment Ministry, who planted a local variety of ficus, the Ministry of Environment told The Slovak Spectator
