SLOVAKIA will provide humanitarian assistance to Serbia at €50,000 to mitigate the effects of recent floods, the TASR newswire reported on May 19.
“With this step the government expresses its solidarity with the Serbian people in overcoming the consequences of a serious natural disaster,” the Foreign Affairs Ministry press department announced, as quoted by TASR.
In addition to financial assistance, the Interior Ministry has provided material assistance worth more than €50,000 to the town of Bijeljina in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was also hit by floods. The assistance includes slurry pumps, power generators, anti-flood bags, raincoats and rubber shoes, ministry spokesperson Peter Lazarov told TASR.
The ministry also provided transport of the material to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Interior Ministry received a request for material humanitarian aid to the flood-affected city through the European Emergency Response Coordination Centre in Brussels, Lazarov added.
