Slovakia sends relief to Katrina victims

SLOVAKIA prepared 25,000 blankets, 500 field beds, 1,000 first-aid kits and 600 litres of liquid soap to help survivors of Hurricane Katrina and the disastrous flooding which followed, the SITA news agency reported.

Slovakia is sending the supplies after consulting with the US. The US accepted with gratitude Slovakia's offer of help to alleviate the suffering of the people in the afflicted area, said the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Hurricane Katrina has devastated New Orleans and US Gulf Coast states, killing thousands of people.
