For the first time in 10 years Slovakia will host its first international final tournament in football. The matches within the Under-17 competition will take place in four Slovak towns, and will be attended by teams from Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, Italy and Croatia, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) reported on its official website on May 3.
This year’s tournament, which started on May 5, takes place in Zlaté Moravce (Nitra Region), Dubnica nad Váhom (Trenčín Region), Žilina and Nitra. There will be nine games all together, including the semi-finals on May 14 and the final on May 17. The tournament will be broadcast live on Eurosport and Eurosport 2, while the UEFA website will present the profiles all eight finalists and provide full coverage of the finals in text and video, including previews, interviews, a live MatchCentre, reports and reactions, plus exclusive photos, the website reported.
The last tournament held in Slovakia took place in 2000 when the country hosted the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
