While attending a session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child Council in Geneva on June 19 representatives of the Slovak organisation called Coalition for Children presented a report about the country, the TASR newswire reported.
The report deals with the level of awareness and implementation of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography and the Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflicts, TASR wrote.
According to Dana Rusinová and Alexandra Draková of the coalition, Slovakia's priorities in the field include the setting up of a post of a children's ombudsman, creating mechanisms for the training of professionals as well as for monitoring, prevention and educational activities.
The aim of the report was to provide additional information about Slovakia before the upcoming meeting between UN representatives and Slovak officials.
