SLOVAKIA SUPPORTS Serbia's aspirations to join the EU and NATO, President Ivan Gašparovič told his Serbian counterpart, Boris Tadič, during his two-day visit to Slovakia on April 24.
Tadič believes that Slovakia's entry to Euro-Atlantic structures made room for cooperation with Serbia. During the session, the two presidents also discussed co-operation in the economy, investments, and issues relating to ethnic minorities.
According to Tadič, the Slovak minority living in the Vojvodina region has significantly contributed to Serbia's development. He noted that it even holds four seats in the Serbian parliament.
After his talks with Gašparovič, Tadič met with Prime Minister Robert Fico, who promised Slovakia's support for Serbia's EU integration efforts. Both politicians said Slovak-Serbian relations have developed recently especially in trade and commerce, and emphasized that they want to boost them further.
Fico and Tadič also touched on the future status of Kosovo.
