SLOVAKIA is likely to become a full member of NATO on April 2, with the ceremonial raising of the seven new members’ flags outside the NATO headquarters at a spring session of foreign ministers, a Brussels source told the TASR news wire.
France gave the final approval to the alliance's expansion last week, and all ratification documents will now be submitted to the US government.
Secretary General of NATO Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will next ask members-in-waiting to ratify their own entry by mid-March. Slovakia is the only to have done so.
