The European Commission (EC) sent three official notes to Slovakia on Thursday, May 14, in which it warns that the country will face legal action, the Sme.sk news website has reported.
In the first note the EC announces that it has decided to file a complaint at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) against Slovakia, because the country did not ensure non-discriminatory access to its transmission network.
The second note announces that the EC will start proceedings in connection with the dismissal of the head of the Telecommunications Office, which regulates the telecommunications sector. The EC says it is concerned about the independence of the regulatory body.
In the third note the EC officailly requests information about the recent tender to implement a new electronic highway toll collection service. The tender, which was awarded to the highest bidder after all other participants were excluded, has attracted widespread criticism. Sme.sk
