Defence Ministry state secretary Daniel Duchoň has become the government’s appointee for the preparation of an informal meeting of NATO defence ministers in Slovakia, it was announced on August 27 in Bratislava.
Duchoň was proposed by Defence Minister Jaroslav Baška and approved on the same day. The Defence Ministers' meeting is scheduled for October 22-23, 2009, as approved by the North Atlantic Council in April. These informal meetings usually take place twice a year.
"Organising the meeting offers a unique opportunity to present Slovakia not only within NATO but also within the wider Euro-Atlantic context," the ministry stated.
In October 2008, Baška will submit a report on the financial, economic and other impacts of the event. TASR
