By the end of 2008 there should be 406 kilometres of highways and 172 km of motorways in Slovakia, the Ministry of Transport, Post and Telecommunications (MDPT) says.
Currently there are 329 km of highways and 125 km of motorways in operation. The planned financial framework for 2006 contains incomes of Sk6.8 billion (€177.6 million) from the state budget, Sk9.3 billion from EU funds, Sk800 million from the NDS's own sources and Sk9.2 billion in loans. The incomes for 2006 total Sk26 billion. It is expected that in 2007 this figure will decrease to Sk24 billion and in 2008 to Sk23 billion, the newswire TASR wrote.
The ministry says investors are having problems securing the implementation of projects on time.
