Slovakia's current account deficit in March was €244.8 million

The deficit in Slovakia's international balance of payments widened in both month-on-month and year-on-year terms in April. According to updated figures produced by the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS), the current account posted a deficit of €244.8 million, up from €84.5 million in March.

The increase in the current account deficit was caused mainly by a drop in the trade balance surplus and partly by an increase in the deficit of the balance for services, the SITA newswire wrote. By contrast, the lower deficit of the balance of receipts and of the balance of current transfers had a positive influence on the development of the overall balance.
