This means that the Slovak economy, which grew by 8.7 percent in the first quarter of 2008, slowed down as expected. According to the estimate, GDP worth Sk507 billion (€16.73 billion) was created in Slovakia in 2Q08. After adjustments to remove seasonal influences, GDP reached Sk382.5 billion (€12.70 billion), an increase of 8 percent year-on-year. In the first half of 2008, meanwhile, the Slovak economy grew by 8.1 percent. The Statistics Office will publish a revised estimate based on more precise data on September 3. TASR
