Slovakia’s inflation rate slows to 1.3 percent in August

The growth rate of consumer prices in Slovakia slowed over August. According to revised Statistics Office figures the inflation rate was 1.7 percent in July and consumer prices were 1.3 percent higher y-o-y in August, the SITA newswire wrote.

In monthly terms, consumer prices dropped 0.1 percent in August, while in July they did not change from the previous month. Prices of housing and energy posted the most significant growth. They were 0.4 percent higher than July. Prices of foodstuffs and soft beverages dropped the most, reporting a decrease of 1.4 percent from July. Food prices have fallen 6.2 percent y-o-y in August, which was a drop by further 0.6 percentage points from July. Since the beginning of 2009, food prices have fallen by 2.5 percent, SITA wrote.
