Slovakia’s municipal elections announced for November 27, 2010

Municipal elections in Slovakia will take place on Saturday, November 27, 2010, according to the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Pavol Paška, who announced the date of the elections at a congress of the Slovak Association of Towns and Villages (ZMOS) on May 19, the Sme daily reported.

Citizens of Slovakia will elect mayors and members of municipal councils. Prime Minister Robert Fico assured mayors of towns and villages in Slovakia that the state budget deficit will be curbed this year. He also told the mayors how his government helped the cities and villages when they lost tax revenue from a fall in personal income taxes because of the economic crisis.
