The National Highway Company (NDS) planned to begin construction work on seven more stretches of highways and dual carriageways in length of 43.7 kilometres by the end of this year but has had to change its plans, the SITA newswire wrote on July 19.
Construction of Žilina highway D3 Strážov - Brodno in length of 4.25 kilometres was supposed to begin in March. After the decision of the Public Procurement Office to cancel an existing tender, the National Highway Company plans to announce a new tender in August, and it should be closed by the end of the year.
Work will begin next year at the earliest. The construction of the dual carriageway R4 Kosice - Milhošť in length 14.2 kilometres did not start in June, either. The NDS re-evaluated the bids, but if one the participants file an appeal, the tender could be extended for another four to five months, the NDS told SITA.
