Among the more than 400 places in the world nominated as ‘wonders of nature’ there are four of them located in Slovakia: Štrbské Pleso lake, the Danube River, Slovak Paradise national park and Dobšinská ice cave.
On July 9 Štrbské Pleso was selected for the second round of the global poll to name the new wonders of nature and it now belongs among the remaining 77 candidates for the most beautiful place in the world, the Sme daily wrote.
Štrbské Pleso was appreciated for being photogenic and for the richness and variability of its nature, as well as its attractiveness for tourists. Fortunately, the less-than-adequate services for visitors were not mentioned, Sme wrote.
The general public across the world can vote about the new seven ‘wonders of nature’ on www.new7wonders.com beginning July 21 and voting will continue until 2011. Sme
