Slovak football fans had the opportunity to watch Slovakia’s first football World Cup game, played yesterday in South Africa against New Zealand, on a large screen in front of the Eurovea retail and leisure centre, City of Bratislava spokesperson Eva Chudinová told the TASR newswire.
The 45 square-metre screen will also be used to show the national team’s matches against Paraguay on June 20, and Italy on June 24. On days when the Slovak side isn't in action, people will be able to watch other World Cup games on the screen. The sponsors of the project have not ruled out keeping the screen in operation until July 11, the day of the World Cup final, regardless of whether Slovakia makes it that far in the competition or not.
Admission to the screenings is free. The Slovak team’s matches are accompanied by a music-based entertainment programme.
