The Slovakpass consortium has submitted another objection to the National Highway Company’s (NDS) decision on the country's electronic road-toll system tender, Peter Newole, the consortium’s representative, told the TASR newswire on October 22.

"We've argued that the members of the commission that is supposed to evaluate the submitted offers have insufficient qualifications or professional experience with respect to the object of the tender," Newole said.

Another problem is the fact that the only expert on the subject involved, the commission's consultant, is not independent. According to Newole, he has a close relationship with Siemens, which is the main technical supplier of the winning bidder SanToll.

Slovakpass therefore demands that a new evaluating commission be set up, composed of qualified and experienced experts.

"Slovakpass also demands that the newly-formed commission should re-evaluate the offers submitted, and that the NDS should revoke all of its decisions based on evaluations made by the commission, which wasn't set up in line with the law," Newole said.

The NDS excluded three out of the four bidders participating in the tender (Kapsch, Tossy and Slovakpass), leaving only the SanToll consortium still in the running. The excluded bidders are unhappy with this decision and have already submitted 10 objections to the Public Procurements Office (ÚVO). TASR
