Slovaks plan to spend €381 on average on Christmas shopping this year, according to a survey carried out by TNS agency over the recent weeks.
As for buying presents alone, Slovaks on average plan to spend €195 on them which is a slight increase compared to last year. Expenditures on gifts vary greatly in terms of regions, age groups, and income groups. People living in the Bratislava region plan to spend the largest amounts on gifts (€344) among all eight Slovak regions.
The lowest expected costs were reported by young people under 17 (€82), those aged 18-29 (€164) and elderly people aged above 60 (€171) which is significantly influenced by their incomes in general. The costs on foods and drinks remain largely unchanged in Slovak families this holiday season, and they plan on spending €139 on average, the TASR newswire quoted the survey’s results on Sunday, December 19.
