A film about Slovakia's tallest mountain range, the High Tatras, was among the award winners at the 15th annual international environmental film festival Envirofilm 2009, which took place recently in the shade of that mountain range in the town of Vysoké Tatry, the TASR newswire wrote.
The film, Tatras’ History, by Slovak directors Milan Milo and Ivan Janovský, received the President of the Festival's Award for best picture, said TASR. The film is the fourth product of co-operation between Ivan Janovský's Studio in Levoča in Prešov region and the TANAP State Forests since 1991 and can be viewed in four languages - Slovak, Polish, German and English.
TANAP State Forests’ employee Pavol Král was the Slovak who captured the second award for the best amateur picture entitled The Art of Survival. Král, a connoisseur of the Tatra's natural beauties, including the world beneath the surface of its lakes, captured the multi-year story of a pike living in the Štrbské Pleso mountain lake. Handicapped by its diseased eyes, the fish was forced to learn to hunt relying mainly on its other senses. TASR
