SĽUK gave performance at UNESCO headquarters

SLOVAKIA’S SĽUK folklore dance ensemble performed in the UN’s Organisation for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris with its latest music-dancing project, Krížom-krážom (Crisscross), on December 18. The event was held on the 10th anniversary of adopting the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Except for SĽUK, Terchová musicians also performed at the event, the TASR newswire reported.

The performance of SĽUK was accompanied by the exhibition showing Slovak items listed on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. One of the latest is Terchová music, which was added to the list on December 5, 2013.

The performances were prepared by the permanent delegation of Slovakia at UNESCO in cooperation with Slovak Institute in Paris, under the auspices of Slovak Culture Minister Marek Maďarič, TASR wrote.
