A new, small diesel power plant may be built by Pow-en company near Levice with an investment of approximately €20 million. The company has submitted investment plans for an Environmental Impact Assessment for the power plant which will have an installed capacity of 32 megawatts. The investor wants to start work on the project in May of this year and complete it by the end of the year, the SITA newswire wrote.
According to the plans, DG-Energy company will operate the plant and Slovenský Energetický Dispečing, the power distribution dispatching service, will be the user. The investor further states in its plans that the new power plant should secure support services to the power grid of the Slovak electricity transmission network operator (SEPS).
The use of diesel fuel at this power plant aims at diversifying electricity generation sources since most existing facilities providing electrical power to the SEPS grid use natural gas as the fuel. SITA
