In the controversial case concerning the disputed transfer of Glance House, a luxury apartment block in Bernolákovo, near Bratislava, the prosecutor has dropped charges against one of those involved, businesswoman Jana Šlachtová, an acquaintance of tycoon Marián Kočner. The Sme daily reported that it had failed to get an explanation from either the prosecutor or the police for why charges have been dropped, but three sources close to the investigation reportedly confirmed the report for the daily.
Sme wrote that the police charged Šlachtová in February 2013 with distorting economic and business evidence data. But shortly after charges were filed, the Trnava Prosecutor’s Office took over supervision of the case, after the special and Bratislava prosecutors’ offices pointed to their close relationship with deputy general prosecutor Dobroslav Trnka, who is directly involved in the case and is on friendly terms with Kočner.
Thanks to a letter written by Trnka which was subsequently declared unlawful, Šlachtová participated in the transfer of Glance House, whose sale investigators had blocked, to her company CDI and then on to anther company, Gapeja, which is connected with Kočner. Gapeja planned to sell the property as part of a bankruptcy proceeding. The publicity arising from media reports meant the plan failed. Trnka has not been prosecuted in the case; the only person still facing charges is former Senec cadastral office head Igor Svitek, who signed the transfers after receiving Trnka's letter.
