On February 7, the Sme daily wrote about Culture Ministry State Secretary Ivan Sečík, one of the main architects of the controversial Press Code now being discussed in parliament.
According to the daily, Sečík’s job at the Office for the Press and Information in the 1980s was to check he every newspaper and magazine for criticism of the communist ideology. The office then created reports that were sent to party headquarters.
In response, Sečík claims the office never censored publications. SITA
