The Office for the Fight against Corruption is investigating the IVJ company based in Banská Bystrica after it supplied equipment for separation of waste worth €760,000 to several municipalities in central Slovakia even though its original business was trade in cosmetics, the Sme daily reported.
Peter Vozár, the head of the district office of the Most-Híd party in Banská Bystrica, reportedly was an adviser to the company, which is now suspected of corruption and business machinations, Sme wrote, adding that Vozár had personally visited several mayors of municipalities with a promise that if they picked IVJ as a contractor they would receive a contribution from the state-run Environmental Fund. At that time the fund was led by another Most-Híd member, József Morvay, Sme wrote.
Vozár did not explain why he visited the mayors, Sme wrote. When asked about his relation to the authorised representative of IVJ, Vítězslav Jureček, he said they knew each other but refused to provide any further details.
Jureček did not respond to questions posed by Sme.
