Smer and SNS present their parliamentary election candidate slates

The national presidium of the Slovak National Party (SNS) on March 11 approved the 150-member party slate for the general election set for June 12, SNS chairman Ján Slota announced at a press conference on the same day, the TASR newswire reported.

Apart from Slota, other names include SNS first deputy chair Anna Belousovová, Education Minister Ján Mikolaj, MP Rudolf Pučík, SNS caucus leader Rafael Rafaj, newly-dismissed construction minister Igor Štefanov, MP Ján Slabý and others. Belousovová informed TASR that the SNS slate will also feature independent candidates, such as former member of the former Czechoslovak national ice-hockey team Vincent Lukáč, European football champion from 1976, Jozef Čapkovič, and former race car driver Dodo Studenič.

The senior ruling coalition party Smer released its list of candidates for the June 12 parliamentary elections on March 11, too, TASR reported. Apart from Prime Minister and party chairman Robert Fico it includes following names: Pavol Paška, Speaker of Parliament, Robert Kaliňák, Interior Minister, Marek Maďarič, Culture Minister, Dušan Čaplovič, Deputy PM, Ján Počiatek, Finance Minister, Ľubomír Jahnátek, Economy Minister, Richard Raši, Health Minister, Viera Tomanová, Labour Minister, Jaroslav Baška, Defence Minister, Ľubomír Vážny, Transport Minister, and others.
