The popularity of the ruling coalition leader Smer party fell below 40 percent in an early September survey.
A total of 39.1 percent of respondents would vote for Smer, which is a 3.7 percent decline from August. The SNS party would enjoy the support of 13.1 percent, followed by the HZDS party with 12.3 percent (up 1.6 percent from last month).
The opposition leader, the SDKÚ party, remains the strongest among the three parliamentary opposition parties, with 12.2 percent support. Another 9.6 percent of those surveyed would vote for the KDH party, and 9.5 percent would support the SMK party.
The survey was conducted by the polling institute of the Slovak Statistics Office (UVVM) from September 1 to 10. The institute interviewed 1,117 respondents.
