REPRESENTATIVES of the opposition Smer, the party that won June 17 elections with 29 percent of the vote, continued to consider their next moves following the first round of talks with all five center-right and right-wing political parties that won seats in parliament.
According to Smer Deputy Chairman Dušan Čaplovič, coalition talks should not be rushed, and as long as there are no important shifts on the Slovak political scene, the party will not meet until next week.
"It's also important to leave time for other political parties to make decisions," Čaplovič said to the SITA news agency.
According to Čaplovič it is possible that not all parties will be invited for the second round of talks, which will probably take place next week.
Čaplovič is personally in favor of a "Slovak government", which means one without the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK). He also believes that the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union of outgoing PM Mikuláš Dzurinda should "step into the dark".
