The fact that the leftist party Smer invited the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) and the Slovak National Party (SNS) into a ruling coalition has not harmed its popularity.
A survey by the Statistics Office's Institute for Public Opinion Research (ÚVVM) showed support for Smer at 35 percent while the SNS is supported by 12 percent and the HZDS by 10 percent of the respondents.

The survey shows the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) with 15.2 percent support while the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) has 9.4 percent and the Christian Democrats (KDH) 8.3 percent.
