THE OPPOSITION party Smer would have won a parliamentary election with support from 25.4 percent of the electorate had one been held in late June, a poll showed on July 9.
A distant second was the opposition party Movement for a Democratic Slovakia, with 15.4 percent, followed by the co-ruling Christian Democratic Movement with 10.6 percent of the electorate.
The Hungarian Coalition Party, a ruling coalition member, scored 10.3 percent of the public's support, trailed by the ruling Slovak Democratic and Christian Union with 9.8 percent, the news agency TASR wrote.
The OMV poll agency at Slovak Radio took the survey between June 24 and 30. The other parties to cross the 5 percent threshold to win representation in parliament would have been the Slovak Communist Party with 6.5 percent, the Slovak National Party with 5.4 percent, and the New Citizen's Alliance with 5.3 percent.
