SMALL and medium-sized companies of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries were the focus of a congress organised by the Slovak-Polish Chamber of Commerce near the village of Belá close to Žilina on September 3.
The event took place under the auspices of Slovak President Andrej Kiska and Economy Minister Pavol Pavlis, and was attended by businesspeople and representatives of chambers of commerce and business organisations of Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, the Polish Embassy to Slovakia informed The Slovak Spectator.
With a focus on the automotive industry, the themes discussed were science, education, innovation and transport infrastructure. Emphasis was put on the possibilities of financing for small and medium-sized companies (SMEs).
During his meeting with representatives of carmakers, automotive industry suppliers and chambers of commerce, Polish Ambassador Tomasz Chłoń stressed the importance of the automotive industry in the triangle that makes up neighbouring parts of Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic. In Slovakia this locality includes Teplička nad Váhom, near Žilina, where Kia Motors Slovakia is located, which is the South Korean carmaker’s first plant in Europe.
The SMEs congress of the V4 countries, which include Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, is considered to be a pre-round of the fourth year of the Congress of Small and Medium-Size Enterprises, taking place in Katowice, Poland between September 22 and 25.
