The co-ruling Slovak National Party’s (SNS) new nominee for the post of environment minister, previously set to be announced by the party on Monday, May 11, will only be known later this week as discussions within the party are still under way, SNS spokesperson Jana Benková told the TASR newswire on May 11.
Once chosen, the party’s nominee will still have to be approved by Prime Minister Robert Fico, who on Sunday cautioned that he “will want to have a say in the selection of this person.” Former environment minister Ján Chrbet (also an SNS nominee) was recalled from his post on May 6 over the sale of emissions quotas.
