The boys were originally taken away from their parents, who currently live in Great Britain, by the British Social Service based on the suspicion that they were sexually abused. Yet, the appeal court allowed the boys to return to Slovakia to live with their grandmother by the ruling passed on November 16. The mother currently remains in Great Britain.

“We are finally home, I did not want to wait any more minute,” said Študencová, as quoted by SITA.

She added that the boys were not traumatised from their departure from Great Britain. Now they will prepare the home for them. They will also have to go to an insurance company and/or the doctor’s.

With the return to Slovakia, the case is over for the Slovak Embassy to Great Britain, said Wlachovský.

“We carried children to Slovakia, they are away from the British jurisdiction, now they are in Slovak jurisdiction,” Wlachovský added, adding that he assumes the state has fulfilled its task.

Andrea Císarová, head of the Centre for International Protection of Children and Youth, who actively helped the Boór family with the case, said that it is a big precedent since “we saved not only these two Slovak children, but I believe that also the other”. She also appreciated the support of Labour Minister Ján Richter and Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák.
