Southern Slovakia felt a minor earthquake on the evening of January 29 that had its epicentre in Hungary, the Sme daily wrote on its website that day.

"We're assessing the data at the moment and we'll have the exact results later," seismologist Jozef Kristek told the daily.

Eyewitnesses from Dunajská Streda and Trnava spoke about moving furniture and shaking walls. According to the US website, earthquake.usgs.gov, the tremors took place at 18:41 and reached a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was 113 km from Bratislava, the TASR newswire wrote.
