The Speaker of Slovak Parliament and leader of the Freedom and Solidarity party (SaS), Richard Sulík, presented an invoice for his recent controversial flight to Salzburg showing that he paid €640, the TASR newswire wrote.
Sulík told journalists that he could imagine going on another such trip in the future. “We’ll see what the future brings. I didn’t do anything bad; it was on my own time from my own money. I don’t see any reason why, when the time is right, I shouldn’t be able to repeat it,” he said, as quoted by TASR.
“My annual income is €150,000; it’s taxed and legitimate, so I don’t understand why I can’t afford an extravagance worth €640 once in a while,” he stated.
The parliamentary committee for conflict of interests launched proceedings against Sulík last week, demanding that he submit an invoice for the flight or face losing a year’s salary.
“I know that the invoice will be enough; I asked the chair of the committee Renáta Zmajkovičová (Smer),” said Sulík.
According to information presented in the media, Sulík flew to the Austrian city on a private jet that is owned by a company close to entrepreneur Vladimir Poor. A total of six passengers and two pilots were on board the flight which took the group to a private dinner.
