Sperian plant moves from China to Slovakia

French company Sperian has decided to move its plant from China to Slovakia, the daily Hospodárske Noviny reported on September 25.

The plant in the town of Partizánske will manufacture material used to make protective goggles.

Problems with the quality of the production and complications with logistics and transport were behind the decision to move the plant.

Sperian operated in Partizánske under the original name Bacou-Dalloz, but the materials were imported.

Companies usually decide to shift their production from European countries to Asia. For example, the luggage maker Samsonite decided to shut down its plant in the town of Šamorín last year and move to China.

Economists are surprised by the decision. They said the exception proves the rule in this case.
